ALBIN LILJESTRAND

Albin Liljestrand, born in 1996, held his first solo exhibition at the age of 15 and has since held a number of solo exhibitions, most recently at the Mats Bergman Gallery in Stockholm.
”A piece of paper and a pen are all it takes to create something unique. And there’s only one of its kind in the whole world. Quite simply, a work of art.”.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve been drawing on newspapers, tablecloths, toilet rolls, clothes, doors and walls. Whether I’m drawing a little man at the bottom of a shopping list or creating a 3 x 4 metre oil painting, the process is essentially the same. I had my first solo exhibition 10 years ago, when I was 15, and since then it’s been a real rollercoaster ride. I’m probably just crazy enough to even try to make a living from my art at my age. But that’s how it is – and that’s how it’ll have to be.

As a conceptual complement to my painting, I compose music and write books.
”Thoughts in the mind must flow out through the body’s channels and become physically fixed on a surface. Then others can see what I see, hear what I hear. This is my ”centre of gravity”: my whole world revolves around this point.’

Galleri Handell owns and has exhibited works by Albin Liljestrand in Kivik, Österlen. Works by Albin Liljestrand are available to buy in our gallery online shop.
