We – Gunilla and Sune – moved to Kivik in the spring of 2021. Whilst looking for a new home to start our retirement, after 20 years on Gotland, we found our dream farm, Skogsdalagården – an old apple orchard without any apples… perfect!
We began renovating parts of the storage barn, which had suffered some damp damage, and built a conservatory.
In the barn, we found a fantastic room which was renovated into… well, why not a gallery, where we could exhibit works by, amongst others, our friends and artist contacts. We got in touch with Chrille at the Ridelius Gallery in Visby, and for our first exhibition we displayed Karl Mårten’s paintings over Easter 2023. These paintings are now part of the gallery’s collection.
Our aim with the gallery is to showcase art in various styles that we ourselves enjoy.
Today, Galleri Handell is an integral part of the art scene in Österlen. We have exhibited around twenty artists in the barn in Kivik and at pop-up exhibitions in the local area, including at Mellby Atelier and Ekenäs Gård in Österlen.
