Yvonne Sonstrand lives and works in Stockholm but also spends time in Kivik. Yvonne trained at Konstfack, Gerleborgsskolan and Nyckelviksskolan, and has attended a number of art courses; she is a member of the Swedish Artists’ National Organisation (KRO), the Swedish Artists’ House (SKF) and the Huddinge Artists’ Club (HKK).

Yvonne works primarily with painting, but also with sculpture, drawing and photography. ”In my art, I explore humanity’s relationship with nature and the boundary between nature and culture. I am fascinated by how we maintain, direct and tame nature, whilst at the same time longing for the sense of freedom that unspoilt nature provides. In my work – mostly painting, but also sculpture, drawing and photography – the encounter between nature and culture is depicted through a shift in perspective, an unexpected light or a staged composition. Nature, and humanity’s place within it, is an inexhaustible source of inspiration.”
