Marcus Eek, born in 1968 in Stockholm, lives and works in Berlin. He graduated from the Royal Institute of Art in Stockholm in 1997. He has held numerous exhibitions in Sweden, Finland, Denmark and Germany. Marcus’s work is represented at Artipelag, Stockholm, amongst other venues. He has been awarded the Swedish Arts Council’s Working Grant.

”Images speak volumes even though they are silent. For me, they exist in a space between the eye and the mind. It’s like looking over the shoulder of someone who is dreaming. And just as in a dream, where logic may be absent without it being a distraction, that is how I have worked on my latest images. The light, colour and composition have not been subordinate to the subject, but have instead played a leading role alongside it.”
